HAMPTON, Ga. – Georgia resident Garrett Smithley finished 27th Saturday in the Rinnai 250, the second race of the Xfinity Series season.
Smithley started 29th in the Atlanta Motor Speedway event and ran mid-pack all afternoon.
“The car was pretty solid today,” said Smithley, who finished eighth in the series’ season-opener at Daytona. “The track here eats tires pretty quickly and cuts into lap times, but we were able to get some good runs in.”
Two races into the season, Smithley is 11th in Xfinity driver points.
Monster Energy NASCAR Cup invader Kyle Busch won the race.
The series moves on to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a March 11 race.
