LAS VEGAS – Garrett Smithley finished 29th Saturday in the Boyd Gaming 300 Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Smithley started 34th and raced in mid-pack most of the afternoon.
Over the next two weeks, he and other Xfinity drivers will continue the series’ Western swing, racing at Phoenix and Fontana, Calif.
“We wanted a better start out West, but we’ll take this and move on,” Smithley said. “Vegas demands really fast speeds, and you can fall behind here quickly. But we logged a bunch of laps and will have a better shot here next time.”
Smithley is 17th in Xfinity driver points.
Joey Logano won the race, leading 106 laps.
The Phoenix race is next on the Xfinity schedule – March 18.
